Telecommunications Compliance in Egypt

Our commitment to lawful cloud communications, authorized Egyptian telephone connectivity, and the strict prohibition of unauthorized international call bypass.

Our compliance approach

Responsible connectivity, from platform to carrier

Egyptian carrier connectivity

Numbers and PSTN connectivity sourced through an NTRA-licensed operator.

Unauthorized bypass prohibited

No use of our services to facilitate illegal international voice termination.

Regulatory-aware deployment

Service configurations remain subject to applicable licenses, agreements and approvals.

Our commitment

Innovation built around regulatory responsibility

SIP Egypt provides cloud communications and AI voice solutions. Egyptian telephone numbers and PSTN connectivity are obtained through an NTRA-licensed Egyptian telecommunications operator. A carrier’s license does not automatically authorize every service or routing arrangement offered by another provider.

Licensed-operator connectivity

Egyptian numbers and PSTN access are sourced through a licensed operator, within applicable authorizations and agreements.

Responsible cloud technology

Cloud PBX, SIP integrations and AI voice applications must be deployed in line with relevant regulatory requirements.

No unauthorized bypass

Our acceptable-use policy prohibits arrangements designed to evade lawful international routing or interconnection requirements.

The legal framework

Understanding the rules

Egyptian telecommunications services are regulated by NTRA under Telecommunications Regulation Law No. 10 of 2003 and the applicable licensing frameworks, regulations and decisions.

Telecommunications licensing

Regulated network operation and service provision are subject to applicable licensing requirements. The authorization needed depends on the service and the role of each party.

International interconnection

International voice traffic and Egyptian PSTN interconnection must follow authorized operator routes, relevant agreements and applicable NTRA requirements.

Cloud call centers and VoIP

NTRA’s call center framework may impose specific conditions on Internet-based voice, cloud call centers and international-to-domestic connectivity. Some arrangements require prior written approval.

Privacy and personal data

Customer data, recordings, transcripts and AI processing must be handled under applicable data protection requirements, including Egypt’s Personal Data Protection Law.

Strict acceptable-use policy

International call bypass is prohibited.

International call bypass generally means routing or terminating international telephone traffic through unauthorized methods that circumvent required gateways, licenses or interconnection arrangements.

SIP Egypt does not permit its services to be used to facilitate illegal international voice termination.

01

SIM boxes and GSM gateways

Using SIM boxes, SIM banks or GSM gateways to terminate international calls without the required authorization.

02

International traffic disguised as local

Routing international calls to make them appear as domestic Egyptian traffic to evade lawful termination arrangements.

03

Unauthorized gateways or call bridging

Connecting international VoIP traffic to Egyptian public telephone networks through unapproved or unauthorized routes.

04

Caller ID manipulation

Falsifying or misrepresenting caller identification to conceal call origin, impersonate subscribers or facilitate fraud.

05

Unauthorized resale or termination

Reselling or transferring voice traffic outside the permitted scope of applicable licenses and agreements.

06

AI-enabled or SIP-based bypass

Using SIP trunks, PBX systems, dialers or AI voice agents to facilitate prohibited call routing or termination.

Policies and safeguards

How we approach compliance

Our operating policy is to assess service configurations and customer use against applicable requirements. The exact controls used depend on the service, risk profile and contractual arrangement.

Carrier and route review

Use licensed-operator connectivity and verify that proposed routing fits the applicable permissions and service arrangement.

Customer verification

Request appropriate business identity and intended-use information where needed for onboarding and risk review.

Controlled SIP access

Use suitable authentication and access controls to reduce unauthorized access and account misuse.

Fraud and traffic review

Investigate suspicious activity and restrict or suspend services where justified by law or contractual terms.

Caller ID integrity

Caller identification must be used only where the customer has the relevant authorization and carrier rules permit it.

Privacy-aware AI

Consider call recording, transcription, data retention and AI processing obligations in the service design.

Customer responsibilities

Responsible use of SIP Egypt services

Customers must use services only for lawful purposes and within the applicable service terms and regulatory requirements.

Compliance Verification Checklist

Before publishing this policy or launching a service configuration, verify the following operational and regulatory facts. Mark each item once it has been confirmed.

Confirm SIP Egypt’s NTRA authorization status.

Establish which telecommunications services SIP Egypt may provide directly and avoid implying that it holds a license unless verified.

Verify licensed carrier agreements.

Confirm the agreements that govern the provision of Egyptian DIDs and PSTN connectivity through the NTRA-licensed operator.

Review the international routing architecture.

Verify the actual call flows and confirm that international traffic does not use prohibited bypass routes or unauthorized termination arrangements.

Confirm cloud call center approvals.

Determine whether the relevant cloud call center, VoIP, international connectivity, or international-to-domestic interconnection arrangement requires prior approval or other authorization.

Verify fraud monitoring and customer verification controls.

Confirm that the stated onboarding, traffic monitoring, fraud prevention, and response controls are actually implemented.

This checklist reflects the verification items identified for this page. It is an internal publication and operational review aid—not an official NTRA checklist, legal certification, or substitute for advice from a qualified Egyptian telecommunications adviser.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions
